Peppermint Essential Oil for morning sickness


Morning sickness is the nauseated feeling accompanying the first trimester (or longer) for many women. Morning sickness can often include vomiting. For most women, morning sickness begins around the sixth week of pregnancy and ends around the twelfth week. (If you should be so lucky!) Although it is called morning sickness, the symptoms can occur at any time during the day.

Topical - Dilute in carrier oil and apply on or behind ears, down the jaw bone, over the stomach as a compress and on feet.

Aromatic - Inhale directly or applied on hands (rub together and smell) or put a drop on your pillow.

Di-GiZE - Single Oils contained in this blend. Tarragon, ginger, peppermint, juniper, fennel, lemongrass, anise, & patchouli.

This blend may be useful for improving digestive function. The oils in this blend have been found to be beneficial in digesting toxic material and for alleviating indigestion, stomach cramps, upset stomach, belching, bloating and heartburn. Placing a little of this blend behind the ears may help alleviate morning sickness.

4-6 drops of peppermint in a bowl of boiled and cooled water and place the bowl on floor beside the bed overnight to keep the stomach calm.




LAVENDER - This is my absolute favourite all. It's constantly with me at all times! And amazing during pregnancy and especially during labour. 

Lavender is calming and has a slight analgesic effect. It also stimulates circulation, which is great for both mother and baby, and has anti-inflammatory and antiseptic properties.

CLARY SAGE - I've used this many times during women's labour. Personally I find this oils stinks! So I put it on a tissue, so that if the labouring woman can't stand the smell I can quickly get rid of the tissue.

Clary sage can be used to help move labour along if contractions are irregular. It's also great to help you relax, calming the nerves and reduce muscle tension.
